What the inspector wrote

The staff schedule was reviewed and it was confirmed that three Medication Technicians called in sick the evening of 10/25/21. Based on interviews conducted and records reviewed, the preponderance of evidence standard has been met, therefore the allegation is found to be substantiated. California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 6 are being cited on the attached LIC 9099D. Exit interview held with administrator. A copy of the report and appeal rights were provided. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is unsubstantiated. Exit interview held. A copy of the report was provided.

    Employees assisting residents with self-administration of medication; training requirements: In facilities licensed to provide care for 16 or more persons, the employee shall complete 16 hours of initial training. This training shall consist of eight hours of hands-on shadowing training, which shall be completed prior to assisting with medication. Deficiency was evidenced by the following:Staff confirmed S1 passed medication and S1 does not have the required medication training. S1 was asked to pass medications on 10/25/21 due to three med techs calling off sick.
