Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Spencer conducted an unannounced annual inspection focusing on the Infection Control Domain. LPA Spencer was greeted by administrator Orlando Valera and discussed the purpose of today's visit. This single-story home contains four (4) resident bedrooms, one (1) staff room, one (1) office, two (2) bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, dining area, backyard, and attached garage. The following was observed/inspected: The facility had a universal entrance screening area including a thermometer, sign-in log, and PPE. There was a sufficient two day supply of perishable foods and 7 days of non-perishable foods. Refrigerated foods were observed and some did not contain covers or expiration dates. Areas of disrepair were observed due to one (1) out of four (4) stove burners not operating correctly. Smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors were present and operable. A fire extinguisher was observed to be fully charged and last serviced June 2021. At 1:30 p.m. LPA observed that sharp knives were accessible in an unlocked drawer. The administrator immediately locked it. The kitchen trash can did not contain a lid. Each room contained required furniture: bed, dresser, night stand, lamp/light and chair. All beds contained the required linen: mattress cover, fitted sheet, flat sheet, blanket, and comforter. Bathrooms contained supplies including liquid soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Medications were locked and centrally stored. However, there were no physician's orders for resident's medications and labels for over-the-counter medications. All client files were inspected: emergency contact information and physician's reports were up-to-date for two (2) out of four (4) residents. All staff files were inspected and contained required health screenings, criminal record clearances, first aid/CPR certificate, and updated administrator certificate. Pursuant to Title 22, deficiencies cited on attached 809D. An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report and Appeal Rights were provided to the administrator.
