What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Bernadette Allen conducted an unannounced visit to conduct an annual required inspection. LPA met with Assistant Administrator- Hennessy Hernandez, who was informed of the purpose of the visit. The facility is licensed to serve 6 non- ambulatory residents age 60 and over of which (1) maybe bedridden. Room #3 is designated for a bedridden resident. The facility has an approved hospice waiver for 6 residents. Currently there are four (4) residents in care. The front house consists of the following: (4) resident bedrooms, (2) Full bathroom, 1 half restroom, Activity room, living room, kitchen with dining area, laundry room (located in the rear of the home), beauty salon room and an outdoor shaded patio area. The back home consists of the following: (2) bedrooms (1) full bathroom, and an office. LPA toured the Resident bedrooms and observed that they had the required furniture, bed linens and closet/drawer space to accommodate each resident comfortably. At 9:00 AM LPA reviewed three (3) staff files for First Aid/CPR certification, criminal record clearance, trainings, and health screenings which appeared to be up to date. LPA also reviewed four (4) clients’ files for admission agreements, updated physician reports, and needs and services plan which appeared to be up to date. At 10:45 AM, LPA and Hennessy toured the physical plant. There were no bodies of water or obstructions on the premises inside or outside. LPA inspected a total of six (6) bedrooms and four (4) bathrooms. The beds and bedding supplies appeared to be in good condition, adequate lighting was provided, and storage for the residents’ personal belongings was observed. The bathrooms were in good condition and operational. The water temperature ranged from 105°F to 118. °F, and the facilities temperatures ranged from 72°F to 78°F. LPA observed that the facility appeared to be clean, sanitary, and appropriately furnished. Storage areas for personal hygiene were in place. Cleaning supplies, toxins, and sharp objects were stored in a way that made them inaccessible to residents in care. The kitchen was inspected, and there was a 5-day supply of perishable and a 7day supply of non-perishable food items available, which was adequately maintained/stored. The fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors were fully charged and operable. Based on the observations made during today’s visit, no deficiencies were cited. An exit interview was conducted, and this report was discussed and provided to Assistant Administrator- Hennessy Hernandez, at the conclusion of the visit.
