Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Sam Haddadin conducted an unannounced visit to the facility for the purpose of completing a required annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA Haddadin was greeted and granted entry by Administrator (AD) Aida Martires. The purpose of the visit was explained. During the inspection, LPA Haddadin and the AD toured the interior and exterior of the facility, including common areas, resident bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, and garage. The facility is a one-story home consisting of six resident bedrooms, one staff bedroom, four bathrooms, and a detached two-car garage. All resident bedrooms were observed to contain the required furnishings, and residents’ beds were equipped with linens and blankets. Windows were observed to be properly screened. The backyard included a shaded sitting area for residents. Bathrooms were inspected and found to be free of debris and mildew, with faucets and toilets in working order. However, the hot water temperature tested at 146.6 degrees Fahrenheit, which exceeds the allowable range per regulations. The facility was observed to maintain a two-day supply of perishable food items and a seven-day supply of nonperishable food, as required. Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and found to be operational. The fire extinguisher was observed to be fully charged. Appliances including the gas stove, microwave, washer, and dryer were in good working condition. Toxic chemicals, cleaning solutions, and disinfectants were securely stored and inaccessible to residents. The medication cabinet was locked and secured. {***CONTINUE***} LPA reviewed six resident files and three staff files, which contained the required documentation. Interviews were conducted with three residents and two staff members. Based on observations made during today’s inspection, one deficiency is being cited in accordance with Title 22, Division 6 of the California Code of Regulations.
