What the inspector wrote

Even though R1 hit the call button and cleared out their own call for assistance they had not been instructed on how to properly use the call system. Based on the evidence gathered through record reviews and interviews, the preponderance of evidence standard has been met, therefore, the allegation listed above is found to be substantiated. Violations are being cited per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 8. An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report along with citation and Appeal Rights (LIC 9058 01/16) was provided.

What does Type A vs Type B mean?

Type A. Serious citation. Imminent or substantial risk to children. The regulator requires corrective action immediately and may impose a civil penalty.

Type B. Lower-severity citation. Corrective action required, no imminent risk. The regulator monitors compliance on the next visit.

  • Care and supervision as defined by statute and rules

    Basic services shall at a minimum include:Care and supervision as defined in Section 87101(c)(3) and Health and Safety Codesection 1569.2(c). This requirement is not being met as evidenced by: LPA conducted a review of records and interviewed staff and residents which showed that R1 had not been instructed on how to use the call system which resulted in the staff not responding to R1's call help for 9 hours, which poses an immediatehealth health and safety risk to residents in care.
