Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samer Haddadin conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection. Upon arrival, LPA Haddadin was greeted by Licensee Anna Cendanaand the purpose of the visit was explained. LPA and the Licensee then commenced a tour of the facility, beginning with the interior and concluding with the exterior areas.Inside the home, LPA observed that the facility is a Two-story residence with five bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached garage. Resident bedrooms were inspected and observed to contain the required furnishings. The living room was furnished with a couch, chairs, and a television available for resident use. In the kitchen, LPA verified that all appliances were operational. LPA also confirmed that all sharps and knives will be stored in a cabinet above the stove and kept locked, making them inaccessible to residents. LPA measured the hot water temperature, which registered at 128.2 degrees Fahrenheit, exceeding the range permitted by Title 22.LPA next verified health and safety equipment inside the facility. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and found to be operational. The first aid kit was reviewed and found to contain all required items. A fire extinguisher was observed; however, it did not have an inspection tag, and no receipt or supporting documentation was available to verify the last service date or expiration. The Licensee stated that resident medications and all files pertaining to residents will be maintained in a locked cabinet located in the living room.LPA and the Licensee then toured the backyard. A covered patio with seating was observed, and there were no bodies of water present. The exit gate was tested and found to be operational. The attached garage, used for storage of extra supplies, food, and water, was locked. All cleaning supplies and chemicals were stored in a locked cabinet in the garage and were inaccessible to residents.Based on the observations during this visit, the facility did not pass the pre-licensing inspection at this time due to the hot water temperature not being within Title 22 requirements and the lack of documentation verifying the servicing and expiration date of the fire extinguisher. No further deficiencies were noted. An exit interview was conducted, and a copy of this report was provided to the facility .
