What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Janira Arreola, conducted an announced visit for the purpose of conducting the prelicensing inspection. LPA met with Applicants, Rosamila Apostol and Jaime Apostol who were informed on the purpose of the visit. The applicant is seeking a change in facility type application from an adult residential facility to a residential care facility for the elderly licensed for (4), (3) of which may be non ambulatory and (1) of which may be bedridden. The applicants requested a hospice waiver for (4) residents which is pending review. LPA conducted a walk through of the interior and exterior of the facility. The home is a (5) bedroom and (2) bathroom, one story home with attached garage. No pools or firearms are being kept at the facility. The current administrator has a current administrator certificate. The facility currently has liability insurance that was reviewed at the time of the visit. All current staff have criminal record clearance and documented training in their file. Each client has a designated file. LPA observed the rooms had the appropriate linens, furniture such as bed, dresser, closet space, light, night stand and chair. The home has extra linens and bath towels. Locked medication storage will be kept in the kitchen. Emergency supplies such as first aid kit with all requirement items were observed. The facility kitchen has enough pots and pans, cooking utensils, plates and cups. The kitchen had the appropriate food items. LPA observed the bathrooms in the facility to have hand hygiene supplies, and personal care items. The outdoor area is free of hazards. All facility exits are clear of obstructions. The hot water temperature was measured at 105F and the carbon monoxide and smoke alarms are operation at the time of the visit. There are no objections for the applicant to move forward in the licensing process. No immediate health or safety issues were observed during the time of the visit. An exit interview was conducted where this report was reviewed and provided.
