What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) K.. Hiratsuka and L. Muscan, arrived at the facility unannounced on 05/11/2022 to conduct an unannounced annual visit using the infection control tool visit. LPA met with Facility Caregiver Tatleen Lewis and explained the purpose of the visit. Prior to initiating the visit, LPA completed required COVID-19 testing protocols, and a daily self-screening questionnaire for symptoms of COVID-19 infection to affirm no COVID-19 related symptoms; contacted Facility Representative and completed a facility risk assessment. LPA ensured they used hand sanitizer shortly after entering the facility and the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) was worn: surgical mask. Additionally, LPA was screened by Caregiver. LPA and Caregiver toured facility together to ensure health and safety of residents in care. Areas toured include but are not limited to: common areas, resident bedrooms, and common restrooms.. In the areas toured no immediate health, safety, or personal rights violations were observed. LPA and Caregiver completed the infection control domain and facility was found to be in substantial compliance for the infection control. While touring the facility, the following was observed: -medication cabinets were found not locked. The medications were found with a lever on the bottom of the cabinet that when pushed up the medications are accessible. Title 22 regulations require medications to be locked. This is an immediate risk to residents. -storage room that stores all the cleaning chemicals located in the second hallway and is across from the laundry room was found unlocked during visit. Per Title 22 regulations all chemicals shall remain locked when not in use by a staff person. The following deficiencies were cited on 809-D, per Title 22 Regulations, Division 6.
