What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Magda Malcore made an unannounced visit to the facility to conduct a required annual inspection. LPA met with Nina Molano, Licensee/Administrator, and discussed the purpose of the visit. The facility is a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) with a license capacity of (6) and a current census of (1) resident in care. LPA conducted an overall inspection of the facility, which included, but was not limited to, the following: Physical Plant/Environment: Indoor and outdoor passageways are free of obstruction. The facility swimming pool is empty & enclosed with a locked gate. Outdoor shaded area is gated and sufficient for resident activities. The facility is maintained at a comfortable temperature. Resident bathroom faucets are working properly and equipped with grab rails and slip mats. The hot water temperature in resident's bathroom measured 107 degrees F. Three (3) resident’s bedrooms audited had mattresses, pillows, bedlinen, dressers, chairs, and lighting. Facility has operating carbon monoxide alarms, laundry equipment, and telephone service. The facility has sufficient linen, towels, and personal hygiene items for residents. The facility has posted in a common area, Community Care Licensing complaint poster, Ombudsman poster, Personal Rights, facility license, house rules, and emergency telephone numbers. Sharps, disinfectants, and cleaning solutions are kept in a locked drawer and cabinet. Food Service: The facility has sufficient non-perishable and perishable food and snacks for residents in care. The facility maintains clean cups, dishes, and utensils for residents. Care & Supervision : Facility has 24-hour, 7 days a week care staff. Facility staff have CPR/first aid training. Record Review: Staff files reviewed did not have annual dementia job training on file for staff#1 (S1) and staff#2 (S2). Resident #1(R1) file reviewed did not have an annual appraisal on file. The last appraisal on file for R1 was dated 1/30/23. The facility did not have record of a recent quarterly drill on file. The last drill conducted on earthquake/fire was over a year ago (7/01/24). Medical Related Services : Resident’s medications are centrally stored in a locked cabinet. The facility has a first aid kit with manual. Deficiencies were cited during today's visit, in accordance with Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations. An exit interview was conducted where this report and correction plans were discussed. Report copy and appeal rights were provided at the conclusion of the visit to Licensee/Administrator Molano.
