Confidentiality and your data
Last updated
This page summarizes, in plain language, how ReadyRule handles the information a professional user puts into the product. It covers the searches you run, the case materials and notes you bring, and the corrections you submit. It is a summary; the binding terms are in our customer agreement, described below. For how our public facility pages and general site are handled, see our Privacy Policy and Terms.
Your searches and case materials are yours
ReadyRule handles two different kinds of information, and they are not treated the same. The inspection records, citations, and ownership determinations we publish are drawn from public government filings; that data flows from us to you. Separately, when you use the product you generate your own information: the facilities and operators you search, the case materials or notes you bring, and any corrections you submit.
That second category is yours. As between you and ReadyRule, you own it, and we treat it as your confidential information.
We do not use your data to serve anyone else
We do not use one customer’s information to inform, enrich, or deliver services to another customer, and we do not make your searches visible to any other customer.
We do not sell or share your search activity with any third party, including any insurer, underwriter, defendant, or opposing party in a matter you are working on. The records we publish are public; what you do with them inside the product is not.
Confidentiality and your work product
The materials you bring to ReadyRule may reflect your litigation strategy, attorney work product, or privileged client information. Sending that information to us so you can use the product is not intended as a waiver of any privilege or protection that otherwise applies, and we treat it accordingly.
If we are served with a legal demand
If we receive a subpoena, court order, or other legal demand for your information, then to the extent the law allows we will:
- notify you before responding, so you can object or seek a protective order
- disclose only the minimum the demand requires
- cooperate with your efforts to narrow or quash it
Security
Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to any information you store with us is limited to ReadyRule personnel who need it to run the service, under confidentiality obligations.
The full terms
The commitments above are summaries. The full, binding terms are set out in our customer Data License and Services Agreement, including data ownership, the limits on our use of your information, how we handle a legal demand, and the return, deletion, and export of your information when an engagement ends. We provide that agreement for your counsel’s review before any paid engagement, and it controls over our public Terms of Service for the licensed product.
