What the inspector wrote

On October 25, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Simerjit Kaur arrived to conduct UNANNOUNCED RANDOM REQUIRED 1 YEAR SITE INSPECTION and met with Lead Teacher Joanne Conderva . The facility is a Title V School and is located on the Arroyo Seco Elementary School campus in portables A and B and on the school campus in rooms 24, 29 and the multipurpose room. Present during the inspection were 19 school age children and 3 fingerprint cleared staff members. The facility was toured for a health and safety inspection. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 6:00 pm. There are adequate play and learning materials available. There is adequate heating, ventilation and lighting. The facility has ample age appropriate materials in the classrooms that were observed to be clean and in good condition. All toxins, cleaning products, and hazardous materials were observed to be inaccessible and locked. All medications are properly documented, stored and maintained. The kitchen is clean and free from defects. There are separate bathrooms for staff and the children. The bathrooms are located in Room B. Toilets and faucets working properly. All required postings are posted . All children have access to clean drinking water in and outside of the classrooms. The facility provides snacks for the children. All food provided by the facility is properly stored and labeled. The facility has operable carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers on site. The smoke detectors are tested by the Livermore School District. The facility utilizes the elementary schools outside area which is fully fenced and maintained by the school district. LPA did not observe any bodies of water in or around the facility. The facility also has a pet gecko in Room B that is housed in a fully enclosed terrarium. The fire/disaster drill log is complete with the last drill logged on 9/10/2023. Sign-in and sign-out logs were reviewed to verify signatures. LPA reviewed staff file and children files. All opener and closer of facility have CPR and First Aid certificates. Per teacher there are no firearms on the premises. A copy of the children\342\200\231s roster and facility roster was obtained. Continued on LIC809-C Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA referred facility representative to the Department website for lead: Lead Toxicity Prevention and Water Testing information. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of \342\200\234medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP.
