What the inspector wrote

On 8/17/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Domantay conducted a case management inspection at this facility. LPA met with Director, Tara Gray. There were 45 children and 9 staff present during the inspection. An application was received with a request for adding a room, for Room W-6 the "Steam Room" to be added to the license. The facility will operate Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm. A tour of room W-6 the "Steam Room" was conducted for a health and safety inspection with Director, Tara Gray. LPA did not observe any hazardous items, defects or dangerous conditions. Classroom has a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher and centralized combination carbon monoxide/smoke detection system. A new room, the Steam Room has been added to the facility. LPA measured the additional room that was added. All previous rooms have remained the same. LPA completed the following measurements: INDOORS: 645.99 square feet = 18 children OUTDOORS: Remain the same from previous inspection. A fire clearance, dated 6/26/23, was received from the Berkeley Fire Department for adding a room for (40) infants, ages 0-24 months and (72) preschoolers, ages 2 years to first grade entry. Room W-6 the "Steam Room" will be made part of the preschool license effective 8/17/23 with a capacity of 72 preschool children. There are no deficiencies being cited. An exit interview was conducted with Director, Tara Gray and appeal rights were provided.
