What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kassandra Medrano and Diana Campos met with Director, Anjum Mujeeb for an unannounced Case Management Inspection. Based on records reviewed, and interviews conducted. It was found that there have been instances where teachers have inappropriately handled and inappropriately spoken to children in care. LPAs discussed reinforcing staff training on positive guidance, personal rights, and appropriate communication with children. The facility was reminded to document any unusual incidents and maintain ongoing supervision practices. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative, Anjum. California Code of Regulations, Title 22 deficiencies are being cited on the following page(s):

  • PERSONAL RIGHTS

    (a) The licensee shall ensure that each child is accorded the following personal rights: (3)To be free from corporal or unusual punishment, infliction of pain, humiliation, intimidation, ridicule, coercion, threat, mental abuse or other actions of a punitive nature including but not limited to: interference with functions of daily living including eating, sleeping or toileting; or withholding of shelter, clothing, medication or aids to physical functioning.This requirement was not as evidenced by: Based on interviews and documents recieved it was found that staff will tell children that they will take videos or photos of children and send to their parents if they do not listen. This poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.

  • PERSONAL RIGHTS

    (a) The licensee shall ensure that each child is accorded the following personal rights:(1) To be accorded dignity in his/her personal relationships with staff and other persons.this requirement was not met as evidenced by: Based on interviews and review of supportive documents it was found that there were instances where staff inappropriately handled and inappropriately spoke to children in care. This poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.
