What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Cherie Acosta conducted an unannounced Required 3 year inspection. Present during today’s inspection was the licensee and 3 preschool aged children in care. The home was toured for Health and Safety Inspection. On limits area consist of the living room, dining room, the kitchen, and the bathroom located in the hallway. Children walk through the laundry room to access the fenced backyard which is used for outdoor play. Children also garden in the front yard. Licensee was reminded that children must have constant visual supervision while in the front yard. The backyard deck stairs are gated for children's safety. One bedroom was previously on limits. During the visit, licensee requested that all bedroom be made off limits to children. The garage and all the bedrooms are now off limits to children. Off limits areas will be made inaccessible by use of gates, closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision. There are no pools, spas, hot tubs, or any other similar bodies of water at this home. There are no firearms on the premises as stated by the licensee. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger to children are stored and inaccessible to children. LPA verified that the fire extinguisher 2A10BC is fully charged. The home is equipped with both a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. There is a working telephone in the home. The home provides appropriate toys, learning materials and play equipment. The licensee is operating within the licensed capacity. LPA did not observe any child left without supervision during the inspection. Children’s files were reviewed. The licensee has current CPR and First Aid which expires 1/24/28. Licensee is in compliance with required immunizations for childcare providers. Fire and disaster drills are conducted at least once every six months. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. There are no deficiencies cited during today’s inspection. A notice of site visit was provided and must be posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100 . Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Jeanne Devin.
