What the inspector wrote

On September 24, 2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Simerjit Kaur met with center Director Liliam Ferreira for an UNANNOUNCED ANNUAL SITE INSPECTION. This is a Title 5 center. Present for this inspection was 6 staff members and 17 preschool age children. The facility was toured by LPA with director to conduct a Health and Safety Inspection. The center operates Monday - Friday from 8:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. The facility does not operate during summer (June 11, 2025- September 2, 2025). There are 2 rooms designated for preschool age children (Rooms: A and B). The Center is equipped with fully stocked first aid kits, fully charged fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide, fire alarm system monitored by Cape, refrigerators and telephones. The staff restroom and children restrooms are located inside of Room B. There was no standing water on the floor observed during today's inspection. Classrooms have proper furniture and equipment for the use of children in care. There is adequate heating and lighting in facility. There are adequate storage hooks and cubbies for children's belongings. The facility appears to be safe, and sanitary. It was observed that there are no toxins or hazardous items accessible to children in care during today's inspection. All toilets, hand washing and cleaning areas are in safe and sanitary, in operating condition during today's inspection. All storage containers for solid waste had a tight-fitting lids. All surfaces accessible to children are clean and toxic free. Cots are available for use of children. The bedding is washed weekly by facility. Breakfast, lunch and AM/PM snacks are provided by center. Breakfast and snacks are prepared at the facility. The center receives prepared lunch from Stanford Hospital. There is a menu posted inside classroom. The center has conducted and documented a fire/disaster drill on 6/5/2025. The outdoor play structure has adequate and appropriate cushioning material to absorb falls. See 809-C There is drinking water available in the classrooms and outdoor. The roster was reviewed and a copy was obtained. LPA reviewed children and staff files. The staff have current CPR/First Aid and immunization. The required Community Care Licensing forms are posted and visible for review. Per director, there are no firearms present on the premises. The opener, and the closer staff have current CPR/First Aid certificates. Sign in/out logs are maintained. Facility director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). LPA verified that the le ad testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed.
