What the inspector wrote

October 11, 2021 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lorraine Dacanay Breaux arrived for an unannounced 1-year Required, and met with Licensee Jayanti Dixit. Present for this inspection were fingerprint cleared son A. Dixit and daughter D. Dixit. No children in care today due to the holiday. The home was toured with the licensee to conduct a health and safety inspection. Hours of operation for day care are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm. ON LIMITS: Entire home, backyard. OFF LIMITS: Garage. Off limit areas are inaccessible by closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision. The home is single story, which is neat and clean, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The outdoor play area is fenced, and is free from defects and dangerous conditions. There were ample age appropriate toys that were observed to be safe and in good condition. Toxins, medicines, and hazardous items were inaccessible during today's inspection. Fully charged fire extinguisher 3-A-40BC, and working carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. The fireplace is screened to prevent access by children. Per licensee, there are no firearms in the home. The licensee conducts and documents Fire/Disaster Drills at least twice a year. All required licensing documents are posted and visible for public review. Children's files were reviewed. Licensee mandated reporter training was completed 8/6/19, reminded to renew every two years. Safe Sleep practices were discussed. Licensee was reminded that children are never to be left in a parked vehicle. ***Continued on LIC809C... Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee Jayanti Dixit was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee Jayanti Dixit and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Applicant was encouraged to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and updates, and to also email childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list. Licensee CPR/First Aide has expired due to COVID, she is scheduled to take the class on October 23, 2021. Licensee is reminded to send a copy once completed. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Jayanti Dixit.
