What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jyoti Saini met with Director Sandy Kashou for an unannounced Annual Random Inspection. The purpose of the inspection was explained. At the time of the visit, no children were present, as the morning session had ended. The director confirmed that the morning session included 19 children and three staff members. The program operates in two sessions,7:00 AM to 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday in Modular L, serving children in TK\342\200\2231st grade and 2nd\342\200\2235th grade on the Cottonwood Elementary School campus. LPA inspected the indoor and outdoor areas for health and safety hazards. The facility is equipped with a fire alarm system, working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, a fully charged fire extinguisher, and a telephone. No bodies of water were observed. The director confirmed that no firearms are stored on the premises. First aid kits are available. Furniture was in good condition, and each child has a designated chair and cubby labeled with their name. Separate bathrooms are provided for staff and children. All bathrooms were clean, safe, and free of hazardous items. Drinking water is accessible through classroom water fountains and personal water bottles. The monthly menu is posted in both the kitchen and the classroom, and the facility provides snacks. LPA reviewed food storage and observed that all food was either in its original packaging or labeled with an expiration or open date. Medications are securely stored in a locked bag in the kitchen, accessible only by password. All medications were confirmed to be up to date. According to the emergency drill log, the most recent drill was conducted on 3/02/2026. The outdoor play area was free of hazards. The facility uses the KT app for children\342\200\231s sign-in and sign-out. LPA reviewed five children\342\200\231s files and three staff files. All children\342\200\231s files were complete. Staff files contained current CPR and First Aid certifications, as well as mandated reporter training certificates. The facility roster was reviewed, and a copy was obtained. Criminal Record Clearance - Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS.
