An announced case management inspection was conducted today, June 25, 2021 by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Domantay and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Mayla Mendoza. LPA met with owner/licensee Jessica Spenchian. The applicant has submitted an application to add a room on ground Level/ basement to current Preschool license with an increase of capacity. The center will operate Monday-Friday from 7:30 am to 6:00pm in one building, including ground level/basement. There are no changes to the other classrooms, bathrooms and outdoor play yards that were previously licensed. There are 6 sinks and 7 toilets for children. LPA and LPM toured the new room in the ground floor/basement to conduct a health and safety inspection, and completed the following measurements: A health and safety inspection was conducted inside and outside and the measurements are as follows: INDOORS: 1570.182 square feet = 44 children OUTDOORS: 1464.35 square feet = 20 children All other indoor and outdoor measurements remain the same. A fire clearance was received from the Oakland Fire Department on 06/15/2021 LPA and LPM observed that there is sufficient heating, lighting and ventilation in the classrooms, and the classroom floors and surfaces are clean and free of hazards. The rooms have an ample supply of age appropriate furniture, toys and equipment which appear to be in good condition. LPA and LPM did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items or toxins that would be accessible to children. LPA and LPM observed operating sinks and covered waste cans. The rooms are equipped with fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and centralized smoke detection systems. The facility has a working telephone and first aid supplies. ------------------------------------------------- CONTINUED ON PAGE 2--------------------------------------------------------- The new ground level/basement classroom, and license for a capacity of 43 children is pending until waiver is submitted by owner/director Jessica Spenchian. There are no deficiencies being cited today. This report will remain on file for 3 years. A Notice of Site inspection was provided to the director, and an exit interview was conducted.
