Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jyoti Saini met with Licensees Sara Lei and Anthony Wong for an unannounced annual random inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the licensees. During the inspection, both licensees were present and supervising three infants and nine preschoolers, one of whom left during the visit. The home is a two-story home with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a family room, kitchen, dining room, laundry room, garage, and backyard. The facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. On-limit areas include the first-level bedroom located to the left of the main entrance, the adjacent bathroom, the kitchen and dining area, a second bedroom converted into a playroom next to the family room, and the backyard. Off-limit areas include the entire second level, the bathroom adjacent to the second bedroom on the first level, and the garage. The daycare area is clean, orderly, and equipped with age-appropriate toys and equipment for both indoor and outdoor use. The home has a working telephone, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and a fire extinguisher that meets safety requirements. LPA observed a 75-gallon aquarium tank with four small fish in the dining area, which was found to be safe and secure; LPA reminded the licensees that all food and cleaning products for the aquarium must be kept inaccessible to children. The fireplace in the family room is screened to prevent access, and the backyard features a playhouse, age-appropriate bikes, and scooters. Each child has individual blankets and sheets, which are washed weekly by the parents. The licensees confirmed there are no guns or weapons of any kind in the home. Multiple high chairs are available in the dining area for use during snacks and meals, and a child safety gate is installed at the bottom of the stairs to prevent access to the upper level. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
