What the inspector wrote

On 06/24/25 at 9:05am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Dana Santiago and Indira Loza met with Licensee Angelica Esquival for an Unannounced Annual Random and Increased Capacity Inspection . Present during the inspection was licensee Angelica Esquival, and 5 preschool aged children. Residing in the home is licensees: Laura Camberos, Gerardo Castro, Angelica Esquivel, Laura's adult daughter, and 4 minor children. Licensee’s home was toured for a health and safety inspection. The facility operates 7:30am – 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. The single story home was toured and consists of 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom converted day care area to the right of day care entrance, living room converted day care area, and hallway to the left of living room/day care area. The entrance to the day care is through the side gate up the backyard deck. The inside and outside of the home were observed to be neat, clean with age-appropriate materials and toys for the children. All toxins, cleaning products, medications, and hazardous materials were observed to be in inaccessible areas. During today’s inspection LPAs observed a wall heater that has been blocked with a gate. Licensee stated there are no firearms. There are 2 small dogs in the home. LPA did not observe a body of water in or around home. ON LIMITS AREA: l iving room converted day care area, hallway, backyard and hallway bathroom next to living room/day care area.. OFF LIMITS AREA: The 3 bedrooms near the front entrance of the home, the kitchen, the living room, the left and right side of the backyard and the laundry room, which will be inaccessible by closed and/or locked doors or v isual supervision. ISOLATION AREA: the hallway next to living room/day care area Continue on Page 2------ Page 2------- The home has a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher located the day care living room, a working smoke detector in the day care bedroom, and a working carbon monoxide in the day care living room. Licensee has all required forms are posted and visible for viewing by the front door. The last fire drill was done 6/24/25. All Licensees's CPR and First Aid certificate is current and expire in 2/2026 . The Licensee was reminded of the responsibility as a mandated reporter and proof of the training is required for all people caring for children. Licensees Laura Camberos and Angelica Esquivel have current mandated reporter training that expires in 8/2026 . Licensee Gerardo Castro's mandated reporter training expired in 8/2024 . LPA reviewed five children’s files and all licensee files. During the children's file reviews, LPAs observed 5 out of 5 children files missing the Parent's Rights (LIC995A). Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep web page at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Continue on Page 3----- Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02CCP. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A license for a Large Family Child Care Home is granted and is effective today June 24, 2025. See 809D for deficiencies cited during today’s inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Licensee Laura Castro. Appeal rights, report and Notice of site visit provided.
