Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 10/20/25 at 1:00 pm Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Mario Caro and Paulita De La Cruz conducted an Unannounced Annual/random Inspection at Erika Archundia's Family Day Care Home. LPAs met with Licensee, explained the purpose of today\342\200\231s inspection, and were granted permission to enter the facility. Days and hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Present in the home were Licensee, one fingerprint cleared assistant, one infant and one preschool aged child in care. LPAs toured all ON-LIMIT areas of the home. The facility is a single-story home with three bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, kitchen, front, and backyard. The home has central heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The vents are located on the floor and don't get hot to the touch. LPAs observed sufficient materials, toys, and play equipment for the day care children in the home. Furniture and equipment, such as cribs, mats, feeding chairs, and tables were age appropriate and in good condition. The home is sanitary, orderly, and safe for the day care children. The Licensee has a working telephone in the home. LPAs observed a fully charged 2A-10-BC fire extinguisher. Licensee has a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector that was tested and is in working order. The Licensee stated she does transport children. Licensees stated she has a small dog living in the home. There are no bodies of water in or around the facility. Drop-down cribs are not allowed at the day-care facility. Toxins, medicines, and hazardous items were inaccessible to children during today's inspection. The last emergency drill was completed on 06/01/25 and was properly logged. Licensee and her assistant were observed to be checking on the infants every 10-15 minutes but weren't documenting the checks. A technical violation was given. Licensee's assistant had proof of each immunization required except her MMR which she stated was taken in Mexico. A technical violation was given. The On Limit Areas are the living room, dining room, bedroom to the right of the entrance (nap room), bathroom, the middle bedroom, kitchen, and the backyard. Isolation Area - the middle bedroom The Off Limit Areas are the front yard (only used for day-care entry), the bedroom next to the kitchen (master bedroom), the garage (will only be used for the children to walk through to go to the backyard), and the storage room in the backyard. The off limits areas are made inaccessible by gate, closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision. Isolation Area - the middle bedroom Children's, staffs, and Licensee's files were reviewed. Supervision of children was discussed with the Licensee and he understands that he must be present in the home during 80% of the operating hours of the day care and ensure that the children are supervised at all times. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice) or (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA are available at: https://www.ada.gov/resources/child-care-centers/ . A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
