What the inspector wrote

On 10/04/2023 at 9:30AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jaleesa Jackson met with Licensee Mariya Benko for an Unannounced Annual Inspection . Present for today inspection were the Licensee, two (2) fingerprint cleared assistants, two (2) infants, and six (6) preschool aged children. One of the children included in todays ratio is licensees preschool aged child. Licensee\342\200\231s home was toured for a health and safety inspection. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00AM - 6:00PM. ON LIMITS AREA : Two daycare playrooms (Bedroom #1 and Bedroom #2), Main daycare area (study area and eating area at the front entrance of daycare), and Bathroom #1 OFF LIMITS AREA : Entire 2 nd Floor, Garage, Kitchen, Bathroom #2 (staff bathroom), Family Room, and the left side of Backyard ISOLATION AREA : Bedroom #1 or Bedroom #2 The facility is a two-story home that is owned by the licensee. The main entrance to the daycare is on the right side of the house. Licensee has all required documents posted near the main entrance to daycare. The inside of the home was observed to be neat with age appropriate materials for the children in good repair. During today's inspection all toxins, cleaning products, and hazardous materials were observed to be in inaccessible areas. The off limits area inside are made inaccessible with safety gates. Licensee provides breakfast, lunch, and PM snacks to the children. Licensee stated that she does transport children. There are no pets and no firearms in the home. There is one (1) fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher in the daycare. The facility has a working phone, carbon monoxide, and smoke detector. Both carbon monoxide and smoke detectors were tested during todays visit. The home is equipped with central heating and air for proper ventilation. LPA did not observe any harmful bodies of water in or around the home. Continued 809-C LPA Jackson observed the outdoor play area that has a play structure that is in good repair and a swing that is anchored to the ground. The off limits area of the backyard has fence to make it inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is also fenced all around with secured gates. There is a large shaded area on the playground provided for the children. LPA Jackson reviewed 7 children\342\200\231s files and 3 staff files that are all complete. An updated children's roster was viewed by LPA. A copy of each was obtained from Director. The licensee has current CPR and first aid. The licensee's Mandated Reporter expired September 22, 2023. Licensee stated that she thought it was due in October and will complete as soon as possible. The licensee has conducted and documented the fire and disaster drills at least twice a year and the last conducted drill was on 9/19/2023. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Continued 809-C Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee Mariya Benko was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the LICENSEE Mariya Benko, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Mariya Benko. A notice of site visit was given to licensee Mariya Benko and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
