What the inspector wrote

A Case Management Visit was conducted on this date 4/15/2022 by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Melanie Otsuji. LPA met with Director, Shabriese Davis. The center has submitted an application for an increase in capacity from 8 infant children to 22 infant children and to add a room (CLASSROOM D) . Hours of operation are from 7:00am-6:00pm , Monday through Friday. Present during today's visit was 1 additional staff member and 6 napping infant children. Also on site is a PRESCHOOL COMPONENT (CAP: 30). A health and safety inspection was conducted inside and outside. The following is the total overall measurement for both CLASSROOM A and CLASSROOM D: INDOORS: 752.65 square feet = 22 children OUTDOORS: 612.17 square feet = 8 children Facility has requested an outdoor play yard waiver to have a capacity 22 children although their outdoor space only allows for 8. Facility will have no more than 8 children on the play yard at any time. Per Director openers and closers have current CPR/FA. Playground equipment is in good condition. Drinking water is available inside and outside by way of pitchers, cups, and water bottles. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. There is a kitchen inaccessible to children. Menus are posted. Lunch and AM/PM snacks are provided and prepared on site. There is adequate variety and quantity of foods to meet the children's needs. The sign in and out logs were reviewed. Facility has a functioning carbon monoxide detector. A review of staff records on 4/15/2022 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. The center has obtained an approved fire safety inspection from San Leandro Fire Prevention on 4/8/22. All licensing required documents are posted. Mandated reporter and appeal rights, civil penalties, unusual incident reporting and fingerprint requirements were discussed today. Licensee is also being informed of the web address ( www.ccld.ca.gov ) for downloading child care forms, and the director is encouraged to email ChildCareAdvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list. The director is also reminded that mandated reporter training is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years at www.mandatedreporterca.com . Zero Tolerance policies were explained. Notice of Site Visit form was provided and posted. The center was found to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair. There are no deficiencies cited during this visit. A license for 22 infant aged children operating out of two classrooms (A & D) will be issued effective today 4/15/2022. Director is reminded to post both new play yard waiver and updated license once received. An exit interview was conducted with Director, Shabriese Davis.
