What the inspector wrote

A Prelicensing inspection was conducted today 9/2/2021 by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melanie Otsuji. LPA met with Applicant, Regina Garcia and Child Development Manager, Jessica Fleck. The applicant has submitted a NEW application for a PRESCHOOL license for 36 preschoolers including up to 16 toddlers in the toddler option program. This is TITLE V facility. The program will operate from 7:00AM - 6:00PM, Monday through Friday, in 2 classrooms (E1 and E2). Toddler Room will serve the toddler option program with up to 16 toddlers in Room E2. A health and safety inspection was conducted inside and outside and the measurements are as follows: INDOORS: 1568.76 square feet = 45 children OUTDOORS: 8367.38 square feet = 112 children The center has obtained an approved fire inspection clearance from the Hayward Fire Department on 8/19/2021. The preschool rooms are equipped with varied age appropriate materials and equipment. There are 4 toilets and 6 sinks available for children. Staff toilet is located in the last stall of the bathroom area in E1. Facility will provide catered lunch and AM/PM snacks. Menu will be posted at least one week in advance in a place visible for the authorized representative to see. The teacher's desk and the last stall in the E1 bathroom will serve as isolation areas for sick children. Cots were observed today. This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services - IMS. The small climbing structures are cushioned to absorb a fall. Building overhang and umbrella provides sufficient shade in the play yards. The center has pitchers and cups, as well as water bottles for indoor and outdoor activities. No cleaning agents were found stored with food. There is a refrigerator available. First aid supplies are available in the center. There is a working telephone on site. Carbon monoxide detector is is available and operable. Sign in/out sheets were observed and have ample space to record the authorized representative's full legal signature and records the day and time. Jamila Mohamed is a fully-qualified preschool director and has completed 16 hours of health and safety training including pediatric CPR and First Aid. Mandated reporter and appeal rights, civil penalties, unusual incident reporting and fingerprint requirements were discussed today. Licensee is also being informed of the web address ( www.ccld.ca.gov ) for downloading child care forms, and the director is encouraged to email ChildCareAdvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list. Zero Tolerance policies were explained. The center was found to be clean, safe, sanitary, and in good repair. A license for 36 preschool children (operating out of 2 rooms - E1 and E2) which includes up to 16 toddlers in the toddler option program will be issued on today's date, 9/2/2021.
