What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jyoti Saini met with Licensee Sonia Moqim for an unannounced Annual Random Inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the licensee. Present during this inspection were the Licensee and her son, supervising two (2) infants and nine (9) preschoolers. The double-story home has a living room, family room, kitchen, dining room, four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a laundry room, and a loft. A mother-in-law suite on the ground floor consists of a living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The mother-in-law suite also has a separate entrance through the backyard door. The Licensee operate from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. On-limit areas: The ground floor includes the living room, family room, kitchen, dining room, half bathroom, and backyard. Off-limit areas: The entire second floor, the mother-in-law suite, the garage, and the left side of the side yard. LPA inspected the house for health and safety hazards. The home has a working telephone, a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher that meets the minimum requirements. Upon arrival, LPA observed children napping. During today\342\200\231s inspection, LPA did not observe any bodies of water. The licensee states that there are no guns or weapons of any kind in the home. There are no pets in the home. The licensee\342\200\231s CPR certification expires on 05/2027 and mandated certificates expires on 06/15/2027. The fire drill log indicates that the last drill was conducted on 12/10/2025. The backyard is a designated outdoor play area equipped with ample age-appropriate toys. A swing set is also installed. The licensee was advised to follow the manufacturer\342\200\231s instructions when children are using the swings. LPA reviewed four children's files, and all four files are complete. All required postings are properly posted. Licensee documents. 15 minutes sleep check and documentation was available for review. The facility roster was reviewed and a copy was obtained. see next page... During Inspection, Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee was reminded about Mandated Reporter training available on CCLD website. Training must be completed every 2 years.
