Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 8/30/22 at 9:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Emilia Grisak conducted an unannounced complaint inspection and met with licensee Michelle Kumar. It was alleged that licensee does not keep the home free from odor, specifically that the home has a strong odor of cat urine. The Licensee was interviewed on 7/13/22 at 2:20pm and denied the allegation and stated that the cats and dogs do not come into the daycare area of the home and litter boxes are kept in the main home area which in inaccessible to daycare children. Licensee stated that the diaper geenie is emptied daily and carpets are cleaned monthly and stated it would be impossible for the daycare area to smell of cat urine. Interviews were conducted with one staff, one child, and one parent on 7/13/22 and 8/29/22 regarding this allegation. It was stated in interviews that there is not a smell of cat urine in the facility. It was stated in an interview that if there is any odor it may be from spilled milk. LPA toured facility on 8/30/22 at 9:10am and observed 9 children being supervised by the licensee and two assistants. LPA did not observe any odor in any part of the facility. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, and the findings are unsubstantiated. An exit interview was conducted. The Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 days.
