What the inspector wrote

A prelicensing inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), J. Snow. LPA met with facility representative Karen Fukushima to add infant and toddler components and reduce the preschool capacity. The applicant/licensee is requesting a license for 8 infant (age 0-24 months), 20 preschool (age 2-5 years) 12 toddlers (age 18-36 months) children, with a capacity of 40. The facility will operate Monday-Friday, 7:45am to 5pm. The facility has 3 classrooms rooms and 2 bathrooms with 4 toilets & 2 staff bathrooms. The indoor and outdoor activity spaces were toured, and the facility sketch was verified. The following areas will be off limits to children: the kitchen and the upstairs in Building #2. These areas have been made inaccessible by means of gates. There is a kitchen, refrigerator and dishwasher and microwave to store/prepare meals that are delivered from another site. There is a nap room for infants to sleep with 2 cribs set up, additional cribs on site that may be added & additional mats to meet capacity. The isolation area for sick children will be located in the office in building #2. The changing table is located in the infant room. The outdoor play area is fully fenced. In the preschool yard there is a large structure with 2 slides which manufacturers age is age 2-5 years and it is anchored. There is a shared yard for infants and toddlers rated age 0-23 months. There are rubber mats & bark under climbing structures providing adequate cushioning underneath. There are shade structures and trees to provide shade in both yards. There is no pool, spa, pond, fountain, or any other body of water on the premises. The poisons are locked in a shed. There is safe and age appropriate furniture, toys, and play equipment available for children. A capacity worksheet was completed during the visit. Infant room #2 measures 288 square feet with a potty chair. Toddler room #3 measures 589 square feet with 2 toilets. The Preschool room #1 measures 895 square feet with 2 toilets. The infant/toddler yard measures 2,718 square feet, the preschool yard measures 6,354 feet. There is enough, toilets, indoor & outdoor space to meet the requested ca Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA reviewed with facility representative the LIC 311A, Records to Be Maintained At The Facility, for child\342\200\231s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with the facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep , as an additional resource. LPA also informed the facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/ , and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Karen Fukushima was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. continued Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative Karen Fukushima Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms.
