Pre-licensing visit·August 18, 2025

A prelicensing inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), J. Snow. LPA met with facility representative Shelly Caperello. (Capacity was adjusted to # during the inspection due to bathrooms, sq footage). Applicant is requesting to be licensed for # 70 children but did not have the inside space required. Facility application was adjusted to 62 preschooler, infant & toddler children, 18 infant, age 0-24 months, 20 toddlers, 18-36 months & 24 2-5 years. Hours of operation will be Monday -Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm. The facility is located on school grounds. The indoor and outdoor activity spaces were toured, and the facility sketch was verified. The following areas will be off limits to children: kitchen. These areas have been made inaccessible by means of gate. There is a (kitchen) to store/prepare meals. There is a nap room for infants to sleep with 8 (cribs, porta-cribs) available and preschool children will nap on mats in the classroom. The isolation area for sick children will be located in the office. The changing table is located in the bathroom. The outdoor play area is fully fenced. There is a preschool area, there is a separate infant yard that contains a fenced off garden. There is a play structure with slide for children to play on and adequate cushioning underneath. There is no pool, spa, pond, fountain, or any other body of water on the premises. The poisons are locked in janitors closet. There is safe and age appropriate furniture, toys, and play equipment available for children. continued .......... A capacity worksheet was completed during the visit. The inside, room square footage measured 2,173. Children have access to at least 6 toilets & sinks. The outside, yard square footage measured 6,098. Based on above, which was NOT sufficient requiring a reduction in the requested capacity during todays inspection. The following items need to be completed prior to the granting the license: 1. Lic200a to match updated capacity & ages – original copy 18 infant (0-2y) 20 toddler (18-36mo) 24 preschool (2-6y) 2. Updated fire clearance will be reordered with the updated 3. Install a gate on the kitchen door- send photo 4. Waiver request updated a. Update yard map b. Update yard schedule 5. Send updated parent handbook & admission agreement 6. Director’s Preventive Health Practices (8/30/25)– send proof 7. Move changing tables net to sink- send photo For childcare center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). If the facility has had a lead test completed within the last five years from the pre-licensing visit date (8/18/2025) and is using the same outlets, you may submit a waiver request from the lead testing requirement to the Regional Office. continued Criminal Record Clearance - Child Care Centers: Shelly Caperello was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
