Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 05/02/2024, Licensing Program Analyst Katy Velazquez (LPA) conducted a field visit for the purpose of a licensee initiated case management inspection. Licensees Amanda Amato (L1) & Zach Lindsey (L2) requested an increase in capacity from 8 to 14 children. A fire clearance, dated 04/18/2024, has been received by LPA and is on file with the Department. L1 provided proof of control of the property as the owners. LPA arrived at the Family Childcare Home (FCCH) and was granted entrance. LPA met with L1 & L2. LPA observed a census of 1 infant and 2 preschool aged children. LPA accessed Guardian and determined that all required individuals subject to a background review had obtained a criminal record clearance and were associated to the license. A health and safety inspection was conducted in areas of the FCCH which are accessible to children in care. L1 accompanied LPA for the entirety of the tour. LPA did not observe any bodies of water on the premises. LPA verified that toxic and hazardous items were inaccessible to children in care. The OFF-limits areas include the master bedroom and bathroom, bedroom #1, garage #1, garage #2, outside shed. A1 understands that OFF-limits areas must remain inaccessible to children in care. LPA discussed ratios for a large capacity, documents required for staff or adult assistants, and LIC 9150 was provided for parents. Licensee was encouraged to visit the Department website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for childcare updates, current forms, legislation and regulation information. In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were observed at the time of inspection on 05/02/2024. As of today, 05/02/2024, L1 and L2 are approved for a Large Family Child Care Home licensed to serve 12 children (when there is an assistant present) with no more than 4 infants, OR a capacity of 14 children when 1 child is enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten or above and 1 child at least age 6 years old with a maximum of 3 infants. Without an assistant, the ratios must revert to those for a Small Family Child Care Home. An exit interview was conducted, and the report was reviewed with Licensees Amato and Lindsey. Licensee Appeal Rights were provided to L1. A Notice of Site visit was posted by LPA and must remain posted on or adjacent to interior main door for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
