What the inspector wrote

A case management visit was conducted on 8/11/2022 at 11:00 am by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Laura Chavez. LPA met with Jodie Keller, ECE Program Director, Karen Fukushima, Head Start Program Support Manager and Center Director Maria Rivas. The facility is operated by E Center Head Start Programs. The licensee is requesting an increase in capacity for an additional 8 toddlers, children ages 18 months \342\200\223 36 months. Eight (8) toddlers are currently in Classroom #2 in the main building. The additional 8 toddlers will be located in the portable building in Classroom #4. The Center representatives were reminded that no child in the toddler program shall be placed in the preschool program before the age of 30 months without written permission from the child's authorized representative. The toddler playground is fully fenced and physically separate from the outdoor play area used by preschool children. There are wood chips underneath play equipment to absorb falls. A capacity worksheet was completed during the visit. A fire safety inspection made on 6/23/2022 granted the facility an increase for an additional 8 toddlers. The following items need to be completed prior to increasing the capacity: 1. Proof of the changing table being located within arms reach of a sink. 2. Waiver requesting the outdoor play area to be shared by infants and toddlers. An exit interview was conducted with Jodie Keller, ECE Program Director, Karen Fukushima, Head Start Program Support Manager and Center Director Maria Rivas.
