What the inspector wrote

On 8/25/22 at 9:30 am Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Monica Mathur conducted an Annual Inspection at North Creek Preschool. LPA met with Director, Esther McClellan and explained the purpose of today's inspection. Center has returned to Active status effective 8/23/22 and first day of school will be 8/29/22 . Facility's operating days and hours are Mon/Wed/Fri in Rooms 101, 102, 103. Mon/Wed 9:00 am - 2:30 pm with Lunch Bunch option: 12:00 pm - 2:30 PM Friday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Tue/Thu - center is closed They will not be using Room 104. There is an active waiver on file for a shared playground with elementary school. There is a pending application with CCL for changes being made in second outdoor play ground areas. At present, they will only be using the shared playground as construction is underway at the second play ground. Center is located in the premises of North Creek Church. The physical plant was inspected. LPA toured the premises with the Director. Indoor space: Classrooms, restrooms were inspected. There were no children present as center has not reopened for day care. Staff were preparing and setting up rooms. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to the health and safety of children were stored in places inaccessible to them. Cabinets, drawers, and rooms used for storage were locked. Furniture and equipment were age appropriate and in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Restrooms for children were observed to be in safe, sanitary, and functioning condition. Floors were clean and free from tripping hazard. Foods and water were stored safely. Food storage area were clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. Trash cans for solid waste had tight-fitting covers on and were in good repair. LPA observed a working Fire extinguisher, Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Facility does not provide transportation for children, but Director understands that children cannot be left alone, unattended in parked vehicles. Facility\342\200\231s License, Parents\342\200\231 Rights Poster PUB393, Personal Rights, Activity Schedules, and Menus were observed to be posted. Shared Outdoor playground was inspected and observed to be fenced and safe. The play equipment was maintained in good condition and free of hazards. Areas around and under high climbing equipment and slides were cushioned with material that absorbs falls. Shade is provided by way of trees. There were no bodies of water observed. Drinking water is arranged to be readily available to children during indoor and outdoor activities. File Review: Children sign in and out procedures were reviewed. A sampling of Children and Staff files was taken for review. All files contained required documents. There was at least one Teacher with current certification in Pediatric CPR/First Aid present at the facility during inspection. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Director was reminded about Lead Testing to be completed and submitted before January 2023. Information on latest PINS was provided .
