On 8/14/2025 at 2:15pm Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tasha Alexander met with Director Deborah Sprague for an Unannounced Annual/Random Inspection . During the inspection were fifty-four (54) school age children and four (4) staff were present. Today the director is included in ratio. Two classrooms were toured for a health and safety inspection. The facility operates from 7:00am \342\200\223 6:00pm, Monday \342\200\223 Friday. The facility is located on the Las Juntas elementary school grounds. The facility has ample age appropriate materials in the classrooms that were observed to be clean and in good condition. All toxins, cleaning products, medications and hazardous materials were observed to be in inaccessible areas. There is at least one (1) fully stocked first-aid kit on site. There is one carbon monoxide detector, one smoke detector and one fully charged fire extinguisher in each classroom. The children\342\200\231s bathrooms are clean, in proper working order, and well maintained. All medications are properly maintained, documented, and stored at the facility. One of the two play grounds was inspected today. The outside area is clean, free from defects with ample age-appropriate materials for the children. The play structure is anchored into the ground, properly maintained, sturdy and cushioned underneath. There are picnic table with umbrellas and trees for shade. LPA did not observe any harmful or unattended bodies of water in or around the facility. The kitchenette area is clean, well maintained, and all hazards are in inaccessible areas. All children have access to clean drinking water in and outside of the classrooms. The facility provides afternoon snacks. Menus are posted. All food provided by the facility is properly stored and labeled. The facility is operating within their licensed capacity and is in ratio. Staff have obtained a criminal record clearance, or transfer. All required postings are made visible and posted on the wall near the entrance door. The fire/disaster drill log is posted with the last drill logged on 6/2/25. The sing in/out log was reviewed and children have been properly signed in/out by parents, staff or authorized representatives. LPA obtained a sample of the children\342\200\231s files, a sample of the staff files, and the facility files to be reviewed. Director was reminded that EMSA approved Pediatric CPR & First Aid training must be completed every two (2) years. Personnel Roster must be properly maintained, and fire/disaster drill must be conducted every six (6) months and documented. Director was reminded that California Law requires all facilities to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care, to child's parents, and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or email. LPA informed Director that all forms can be downloaded at www.ccld.ca.gov . Director was also informed that Mandated Reporter Training ("General" and "Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years by visiting www.mandatedreporterca.com . LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. THIS IS A SCHOOL AGE FACILITY. NOT LICENSED TO CARE FOR INFANTS . This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
