What the inspector wrote

On 4/25/2025 at approximately 9:00am, Licensing Program Analysts Jamel Maiwandi and Dana Santiago conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for an increase in capacity at 741 Brookside Drive, Danville Ca, 94526. This is a school-age program located on John Baldwin Elementary School. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Director Regina Roces, applicant Ann Tancioco was not present during this inspection. Applicant is requesting an increase in capacity from to 128 to 163 school-age children ages 3.9-12 years old and adding classroom #604 with an approved capacity of 35 children for this classroom from the superintendent. Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday from 7:00am-6:30pm. Appropriate ratios and supervision was observed. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children was inspected today. LPAs informed director that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. LPAs continued to tour the facility and observed all indoor activity space to be complete with safe, age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via a drinking fountain. There is a functioning carbon monoxide detector located in the classrooms and LPAs observed no hazardous items in the classrooms and advised director to ensure all outlets have covers, heaters are inaccessible and blocked off, and any work equipment to be removed prior to children in the classrooms. There is a dedicated phone line for the facility that connects to the main office, and storage for children will be located outside the classroom on hooks. The isolation area for sick children will be in the main office and the staff isolation area will be in the main office as well. Report continues on page 2 Disinfectants and cleaning solutions will be located in each classroom and in the main office as well. The food preparation area will be located in the main office and inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water or weapons on the property. Fire clearance was granted on 7/26/2024. LPAs observed a total of 4 bathrooms available for children\342\200\231s use and one staff bathroom located in the main office. The facility currently has a fully fenced playground area with a wrought iron fence that is at least four feet high. Shade is provided via two benches and a large umbrella located under the outdoor play structure. There are sufficient outdoor age-appropriate toys and play equipment available on the playground. There is a climbing structure on the playground for children ages 5-12 as per director Regina Roces which is properly anchored. There is adequate resilient padding made of turf located around the outdoor play structure. Outdoor drinking water is available via the main office and children's water bottles. LPAs observed all hazardous items on the main playground area to be inaccessible to children. LPAs inspected the outdoor garden area, and informed director to ensure the electrical box is inaccessible to children while they are in the garden area. Director was reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated . A notice of site visit was given to director and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the site director Regina Roces. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms.
