What the inspector wrote

On October 2, 2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tasha Alexander met with Center director Jayni Campbell and Administrator Michelle Mckenzie for an UNANNOUNCED ANNUAL/RANDOM and application that was submitted for a room change. The facility is also requesting to decrease school age capacity to 92 children. Facility is also requesting room changes, for 2 recently constructed rooms to be added to the school age program license. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM . The fire clearance was granted on 9/20/2024 by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department for 92 school age children, ages 4.9 years to 12 years. INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: There are 2 school age areas designated for the school age program: Room 1 and room 2 located across the parking lot opposite of the elementary school. No measurements were taken during today's inspection. Facility is exempt from indoor square footage due to operating on the premises of Morello Park Elementary School. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, and chairs. LPA observed cleaning disinfectants are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. LPA observed multiple smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide detector in each school age classroom. School age children have 24 toilets and 22 sinks. LPA observed a manual sign-in/sign-out system. There is a separate private restroom for the staff located on the facility. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the Director's office with a cot and will use the staff restroom, if necessary. OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: Facility is exempt from outdoor square footage due to operating on the premises of Morello Park Elementary School. All outdoor activity space remains the same from previous pre-licensing inspections. The school age outdoor play areas are fenced with a metal fencing that is at least four feet tall. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys. There is a play structures present in the outdoor play yard area. There are shaded areas supplied by solar panels. The playground is free of debris and other hazards. There are no pools, hot tubs, or other bodies of water present. LPA discussed 100% supervision is always required in all areas that children have access to including the bathroom. Personal Rights, inspection authority, reporting requirements, maintaining buildings and grounds was reviewed. Staff Qualifications, Staff to Children\342\200\231s ratios and Capacity was explained to ensure compliance. LPA discussed with Applicant any changes that may occur regarding the director or an employee acting in the director\342\200\231s absence must be reported to the department within 10 working days. Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Staff files were reviewed today and were found to be complete. All posting requirements are met. Children's files were not reviewed today. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms.
