What the inspector wrote

On 10/14/2025 at 9:50AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jaleesa Jackson arrived for an Unannounced Annual/Random Inspection and met with Licensee Sonja Brennan. Present for today's visit was the licensee, 3 preschool aged children, and 2 infants. The home was toured with the licensee to conduct a health and safety inspection. Hours of operation for the day care are Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 5:00PM. ON LIMITS: Attached In Law Unit (Play Room, School Room, Bedroom, and Bathroom) and Fenced Front Yard OFF LIMITS: Entire Rest of the Home (Includes 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Kitchen, Living Room, and Sun Room), Garage and Backyard with Swimming Pool ISOLATION AREA: Play Room The inside of the home is observed to have age-appropriate materials for the children. There is a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, working carbon monoxide and smoke detector, and telephone at the facility. The facility provides lunches and snacks to the children. Licensee stated she does not transport children. There are no firearms, no pets, and no one smokes in the home. LPA observed that the lock on the fence for the swimming pool was not working and that the pole for the rescue hook was only 5 feet long and telescoping. LPA informed Licensee that the rescue hook needs to be on a 12 foot fixed length pole with the new pool regulations that started January 2025. Continued 809-C Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the LICENSEE Sonja Brennan, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Sonja Brennan. LPA reviewed 3 children's files. Licensee\342\200\231s Health and Safety training has been completed and Pediatric CPR and First Aid training is complete and expires 9/2027. Licensee's Mandated Reporter is completed and expires 6/7/2027. Disaster drills are completed at least every 6 months. The last drill conducted and documented was on 9/11/2025. All required forms are posted and visible for public view. There were 2 deficiencies cited on today's inspection. See 809-D for deficiencies. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
