What the inspector wrote

On 01/15/2026 at 12:50PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kareeca \342\200\234Reeca\342\200\235 Sykes met with Licensee Maria Alvarado for an Unannounced Annual/Random Inspection . Present during the inspection was the licensee, the licensee's husband and five (5) children ( two (2) infants and three (3) preschool age) in care. Residing in the home is the licensee and the licensee's husband who is fingerprint cleared. The home was toured for a health and safety inspection. The facility operates Monday - Friday from 7AM - 5PM. The home is a one story home that consists of three (3) bedrooms, three (3) bathrooms, kitchen, dining area, living room, play area, converted garage to office space, and backyard. The entrance to the day care is the front door. The inside and outside of the home were observed to be neat, clean with age-appropriate materials and toys for the children. Toxins, medications, and hazardous materials were observed to be in inaccessible areas during todays inspection. LPA observed the following precautions accessible cabinets and drawers in the kitchen have safety latches and the electric fire place in the living room area is blocked off and made inaccessible to children in care. Licensee stated there are no firearms in the home and three pets (one big dog and two small dogs) in the home. LPA did not observe a body of water in or around home. ON LIMITS AREA: Play area, Kitchen, Dining area, Living room, Bathroom 3 (to the left of the kitchen) and backyard OFF LIMITS AREA: Bedroom 1 (Master Bedroom) , Bedroom 2, Bedroom 3, the master bathroom, bathroom 2, and the converted garage. Continued on Page 2 Page 2 ISOLATION AREA: The sofa in the living room area The home has a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher, a working duel smoke and carbon monoxide detector and a working telephone, and all required forms are posted. The licensee conducts and documents fire and disaster drills twice a year with the last one conducted in 11/2025. Licensee's CPR and First Aid certificate is current and expires on 07/14//2027 . The Licensee was reminded of the responsibility as a mandated reporter and has provided proof of the required training for all people caring for children which expires on 03/20/2027 . LPA reviewed four children\342\200\231s files and obtained a current facility roster and licensee stated they will email LPA their yearly calendar. The licensee is in compliance with the immunization law. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep web page at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following was discussed : LPA had an extensive conversation with the Licensee regarding safe sleep regulations and answering the licensee's questions. LPA advised the Licensee to access forms, regulations, and quarterly updates on the Child Care Licensing website at: www.ccld.ca.gov Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employes and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. At this time, the facility is in compliance with California Title 22 Regulations. Therefore, there are no citations being issued today. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) \342\200\223 must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00. Exit interview was conducted with the Licensee, Maria Alvarado, Appeal Rights and Report was explained and provided.
