Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On May 21, 2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Indira Loza met with Program Coordinator Katina Jones for a Case Management - Lead Testing/Exceedance. Present during today's visit were 10 infants and 6 staff. LPA conducted a walk through of the facility for a health and safety check. The facility had their water retested on 4/2/25 after they changed a reverse osmosis filter for the faucet and found that faucet "D" in the Great Beginnings classroom had a lead exceedance measured at 6.4 ppb; which exceeds the action level established by the state for exposure in a Child Care Center. Water testing results identified with Action Level Exceedance as defined in Written Directives (WD) section 101700.3 are not deemed safe to drink. Program Coordinator Katina Jones stated that they are utilizing a dishwasher to wash the dishes and bottled water for drinking. Program Director Jones stated they have replaced the Water Osmosis Filter in the first week of May, but have not re-tested the outlet in Great Beginnings classroom. LPA observed a water cooler and 5-gallon water jugs next to it (There were 5 full water jugs). LPA observed a sign above the water faucet reminding staff not to use the faucet. The faucet is already inaccessible to children as it is difficult for them to reach it. LPA reminded Program Coordinator Jones to maintain the faucet fully inoperable until it has been re-tested and the results are below 5 ppb. See LIC 809-D for one Type B citation. Exit Interview Conducted. Report and Appeal Rights provided to Program Coordinator Katina Jones. Notice of Site Visit must remain posted for 30 days.
