What the inspector wrote

On 12/13/2024 at 8:30 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Mario Caro and Diana Campos met with Assistant Director Ana Ramos for an Unannounced Required Annual Inspection . There were 87 preschool age children in care and 15 additional fingerprint cleared teachers. The teacher/child ratio was being met today. The center was toured to conduct a health and safety inspection. The facility operates from 7:00 am \342\200\223 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday. The preschool operates on the corner lot of a shopping center. The room floors, surfaces, furniture and equipment appear to be safe, sanitary and in good repair. The heating, lighting and ventilation is adequate. The toilets and sinks for the children are sanitary and in operational condition. There are supplies available for the children to wash and dry their hands. There are separate bathrooms for staff. The activities and toys appear to be age appropriate for the children in care. The outside play areas are fenced in with shaded areas and age appropriate toys. There are large play structures and the yard is covered with a soft cushioned tarp to absorb falls. The children have personals water bottles for drinking while outdoors. LPA's did not observe any bodies of water, free standing water, cleaning supplies, or toxic items accessible to children during todays inspection. The center prepares lunches and provides snacks there were menus posted a week in advance and dated in each classroom. The kitchen was maintained in a clean manner and within regulations. There is a menu posted inside. The children have their own cubbies to store personal belongings. All children have access to clean drinking water in each classroom. The fire system is hard wired, there is a working carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged 2A-10-BC fire extinguisher. All required documents are posted for public review on the parent board by the front entrance door. The center is equipped with fully stocked first aid kits in each class and a working telephone. A review of children's files and present 15 staff files were reviewed. Two children had EPI pen medication that were recently expired. This imposes a potential risk to the health, safety, personal rights of children. A Type B deficiency will be cited on corresponding 809D for the title 22 regulation 101226(e)(2).
