What the inspector wrote

On 04/29/2026 Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Dana Santiago and Nicole Reynoso met with Site Supervisor Kecia Stokes for an Unannounced Required Annual Inspection . There were 36 preschool age children in care and 6 additional fingerprint cleared teachers. The teacher/child ratio was being met today. The center was toured to conduct a health and safety inspection. The facility operates from 7:00am – 6:00pm, Monday - Friday. The preschool operates on the corner lot of a converted house. The entrance to the center is located in the parking lot through the play ground. Indoor Space: The room floors, surfaces, furniture and equipment appear to be safe, sanitary and in good repair. The heating and lighting and ventilation is adequate. All children have access to clean drinking water in each classroom. There are a total of three toilets and four sinks available for the children which are sanitary and in operational condition. There are supplies available for the children to wash and dry their hands. There is a separate bathroom for staff. The activities and toys appear to be age appropriate for the children in care. The center prepares and provides snacks and lunches are brought from home. The kitchen was maintained in a clean manner and within regulations. There is a snack menu posted inside. The children have their own cubes to store personal belongings and bedding. The fire system is hard wired, there is a working carbon monoxide detector in the classroom and a fully charged 2A-10-BC fire extinguisher. The center is equipped with a fully stocked first aid kit and a working telephone. On site facility has a fish tank, a snake tank, and a toad tank in the main classroom. Report continued on 809C, Page 2-------------- Page 2----------------- All required documents are posted for public review on the parent board outside. Disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months, the last drill was recorded 03/12/2026. A review of 6 children's files and 7 present staff files were reviewed and all files were maintain within regulations. All staff have been fingerprint cleared and associated to the facility. Children's Roster and Personnel Report was obtained. Outdoor Space: The outside play area is fenced in with shaded areas and age appropriate toys. There is a large play structure and the yard is covered with rubber pieces to absorb a fall. There is a water jug and the children have personal water bottles for drinking while outdoors. There is an outdoor sink for children to wash hands. LPAs did not observe any bodies of water, free standing water, cleaning supplies, or toxic items accessible to children during todays inspection. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. All medications had proper labelling, one child was missing LIC9221 for medications, a technical violation was given. Facility Representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Report continues on 809c, Page 3---------- Page 3--------------- Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1597.16. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP.). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives (Interim Licensing Standards) outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. LPA referred facility representative to the Department website for lead: Lead Toxicity Prevention and Water Testing Information ( https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/water-testing-information ) • CCC COMPLETED TESTING AND NO LEAD EXCEEDANCES as of 12/09/2022. Facility Representative was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.
