What the inspector wrote

On 06/04/2026, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Dana Santiago and Nicole Reynoso conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection at YMCA Valhalla and met with Site Director, Julie Mendenhall. Purpose of today's inspection is to follow up on corrections made to safety adjustments and documents noted during Case Management- Licensee Initiated Inspection on 05/01/2026. LPAs toured the facility, observed classrooms and inspected indoor and outdoor areas. Today there were no children present as the facility is cleaning up and getting ready for their summer session. It was observed that the electrical outlets had protective coverings and installed a new carbon monoxide detector in room P7. The fire clearance by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was granted and received on 4/21/2026. As of today, 06/04/2026, YMCA Valhalla will be issued the license for 126 school age children in 3 classrooms: YMCA, P1, and P7. No deficiencies were cited. This report was reviewed with Authorized Facility Representative, Julie Mendenhall. A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT was given, must be posted near front entrance for 30 days.
