What the inspector wrote

On 10/13/22, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Guirit and Melissa Domantay arrived at the facility for an unannounced case management inspection for a change of capacity. LPAs met with Owner/Director, Marla Watawala. Present for today's inspection were 11 infants and 3 staff. The normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:00am-6:00pm. LPAs conducted a full tour of the facility to conduct a health and safety inspection with Director. Per Director, the old preschool room is now the new Infant room with the following measurements: INDOOR: 643.59 sq ft. = 18 children There is a crib area designated for 6 crib-aged infants. Fire clearance was received for 18 infants and 72 preschools, total capacity 90 children from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department on 09/29/2022. LPAs observed that the classrooms has sufficient lighting and appears to be clean and in good condition. The changing table is within arms reach of a sink. There is a designated staff bathroom. LPAs observed an ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, furniture, and are equipped with varied age appropriate materials and equipment. LPAs observed the outdoor play yard area, it is fully fenced and have ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, and furniture. LPAs observed ample amount of shade for children. The building has a fully charged fire extinguisher and first aid supplies. There is a working telephone at the center. LPAs did not observe any hazardous items that would be accessible to children. See 809-C for continuance. A license for a capacity of 18 infants with 72 preschoolers, with a total capacity 90 children will be made part of the license, effective today 10/13/22, and can be used when the facility is ready. There are no deficiencies being cited today. A Notice of Site inspection was provided to Owner/Director, Marla Watawala and an exit interview was conducted.
