What the inspector wrote

On 10/08/2025 at 12:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kareeca \342\200\234Reeca\342\200\235 Sykes met with Licensee Karri Sangimino for an Unannounced Annual/Random Inspection . Present during the inspection was the licensee, the licensee's husband Michael Sangimino and five (5) children in care two (2) preschoolers and (3) school age children. Residing in the home is the Licensee and the licesnee's husband. LPA has confirmed that all adults living and working in the home are fingerprint cleared. The home was toured for a health and safety inspection. The facility operates Monday - Friday 6AM \342\200\223 6PM. The home is a one story home that consists of four (4) bedrooms, two (2) bathrooms, kitchen, dining area, living room, family room, garage, and backyard. The entrance to the day care is the front door. The inside and outside of the home were observed to be neat, clean with age-appropriate materials and toys for the children. Toxins, medications, and hazardous materials were observed to be in inaccessible areas during todays inspection. LPA observed the following precautions accessible cabinets and drawers in the kitchen have safety latches and the fire place which is in the living room area is locked and made inaccessible to children in care. Licensee stated there are no firearms in the home and two pet (small dog) in the home. LPA did not observe a body of water in or around home. ON LIMITS AREA: Bedroom 4 (Straight down the hallway), Bathroom 2, Dining area, Living room, Family room, and Backyard. OFF LIMITS AREA: Bedroom 1 (Master Bedroom), Bedroom 2, Bedroom 3, the master bathroom, and the garage. Continued on Page 2 Page 2 ISOLATION AREA: Is located in Bedroom 4, away from other children in care. The home has a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, a working duel smoke/carbon monoxide detector in the hallway and a working telephone, and all required forms are posted. The licensee conducts and documents fire and disaster drills twice a year with the last one conducted on 09/03/25. Licensee's CPR and First Aid certificate is current and expires on 10/20/2026 . The Licensee was reminded of the responsibility as a mandated reporter and has provided proof of the required training for all people caring for children which expires on 06/09/2027 . LPA reviewed five children\342\200\231s files at 2:00PM and obtained a current facility roster. The licensee is incompliance with the immunization law. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep web page at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. During the exit interview, the Licensee Kerri Sangimino, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. The following was discussed : \302\267 Individuals who are 18 years of age or older living in the home must obtain a criminal record clearance. Individuals within one month of their 18th birthday must be fingerprinted immediately. Failure to obtain a criminal record background check clearance prior to initial presence in the home will result in an immediate $100.00 dollar or more per day Civil Penalty. \302\267 The Licensee shall be present in the home and shall ensure that children are supervised at all times. \302\267 Children shall not be left in park vehicles. \302\267 When a child shows signs of illness, they will be separated from other children until the nature if the illness is determined. LPA advised the licensee how to access forms, regulations and quarterly updates on the Child Care Licensing website at: www.ccld.ca.gov No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection. The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) \342\200\223 must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00. Exit interview was conducted with Licensee. The Licensee was provided a copy of their appeal rights (LIC 9058) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these forms.
