What the inspector wrote

On March 4, 2026 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Indira Loza met with Licensee Shayvon Hawkins to conduct an Annual/Random inspection. Present during today's visit were the Licensee, 7 preschool-aged children, and two fingerprint-cleared assistants. LPA toured the daycare areas for a Health and Safety check. The Licensee's operation hours are: Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm. The home is a two story house with the upper level consisting of four bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The lower level of the house consists of a living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, half bathroom, a large backyard, and a garage. On Limit Areas - Living room, kitchen, dining room, and the backyard. Off Limit Areas - Garage, family room, and the entire 2nd floor Isolation Area - in the living room The entrance to the day care is the through the front door. The inside and outside of the home were observed to be neat, clean with age-appropriate materials and toys for the children. All toxins, cleaning products, medications, and hazardous materials were observed to be in inaccessible areas. The home has a central heating system and the vents were observed to be inaccessible during today\342\200\231s inspection. There is a fireplace in the family room, which is off limits. Per Licensee there are no firearms in the home. LPA did not observe any bodies of water in or around home. LPA observed a current children's roster. Licensee provides two snacks and the children bring lunch from home. The home has a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher located in the living room, a working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector all located in the hallway next to the bathroom. Licensee has a working telephone, and all required forms are posted and visible for public view in the entryway of the home. The licensee conducts and documents fire and disaster drills twice a year with the last one conducted on 10/28/25 The Licensee has a CPR and First Aid certificate and expires on 8/2027. The Licensee was reminded of the responsibility as a mandated reporter and has provided proof of enrollment for the Mandated Reporter training to be held on 3/5/26 through CoCoKids. LPA reviewed five children\342\200\231s files and three staff files. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 2202-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the Licensee Shayvon Hawkins, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.
