What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Cherie Acosta conducted an unannounced Annual Required inspection. Present during today’s inspection was the licensee and her two fingerprint cleared daughters/assistants. There were 12 preschool aged children and one infant in care. During the inspection one preschool child was picked up. The home was toured for Health and Safety Inspection. On limits area consist of the family room, dining room, first floor bedroom and first floor bathroom. The remainder of the home is off limits to children. Licensee is aware that the garage does not have fire clearance and is off limits to children. Off limits areas will be made inaccessible by use of gates, closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision. The home was observed to be orderly, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. There home has a pool and hot tub which are gated and inaccessible to children. The pool/hot tub fence has a self closing gate that opens away from the pool. Licensee has a play structure near the pool that is made inaccessible to children by the fence. Licensee stated that the play structure is not used by day care children. There are no firearms on the premises as stated by the licensee. LPA verified that the fire extinguisher 3A40BC is fully charged. The home is equipped with both a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. There is a working telephone in the home. The home provides appropriate toys, learning materials and play equipment. Outdoor play area is fenced. Children files were reviewed. The licensee has current CPR and First Aid which expires 9/3/24. Mandated reporter training was completed 6/1/22. Fire and disaster drills are conducted at least once every six months. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA informed licensee that this report dated 1/17/23 document(s) 1 Type A citation(s) which shall be posted for 30 consecutive days as there is/are immediate risk(s) to the health, safety, or personal rights of children in care. Also, LPA informed the licensee to provide a copy of this licensing report dated 1/17/23 that documents any Type A citation(s) to parents/guardians of all children currently enrolled by the next business day or the next day the children are in care, and to any newly enrolled parents/guardians for 12 months from the date of this report. A signed Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Report (LIC 9224), or other written statement, must be placed in the child's file for verification. A notice of site visit was provided and must be posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100 . Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Leslie Ramirez and her daughter, Michelle Armijo. Licensee speaks Spanish. Ms. Armijo interpreted during the inspection.
