Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 6/11/24, at 1:00PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brittany Crass arrived at the home for an unannounced Required/Random inspection. LPA met with licensee Patricia Lima. There were 11 preschool aged children and 1 school aged child in care during the inspection. Also present for the inspection were two fingerprint cleared assistants. This family childcare home operates Monday - Friday 7:45AM-5:30PM. LPA verified that the licensee's phone number and email address on file are correct. LPA toured the home with the licensee, to conduct a health and safety inspection. The home is a single story home, and consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, and a kitchen. There is also a fully fenced in backyard. LPA observed that the home has heating and ventilation for the safety and comfort of children in care. The on-limit areas include the kitchen, living room, two bedrooms across from the living room, and the bathroom next to the kitchen. The on-limit areas of the backyard include the driveway area which is used for outdoor play, and a second section of the backyard which is separately fenced off and includes a sandbox. The off-limit areas of the home include the bedroom right next to the living room, the bathroom down the end of the hallway, the garage, and a separately fenced off area of the backyard used for animals. The home has 2 rabbits and 2 dogs in this off-limit area of the backyard. These areas are made inaccessible by closed and/or locked doors, gates, and visual supervision. One of the bedrooms is used for isolation of sick children, away from other children in care. LPA observed an ample supply of age-appropriate toys, equipment and activities available for children both indoors and outdoors. The licensee stated that there are no firearms on the premises. (Report continued, See 809-C). Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. LPA reminded the licensee that the mandated reporter training is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years at www.mandatedreporterca.com . There were no deficiencies cited at this time. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Appeal rights provided and discussed.
