Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Cherie Acosta conducted an unannounced Annual Required inspection. Present during today\342\200\231s inspection was the licensee, her fingerprint cleared daughter/assistant, her teenage assistant, 4 preschool aged children, 1 infant and 1 school aged child in care. Also present was licensee's infant foster child, and infant grandchild. The home was toured for Health and Safety Inspection. The entire first floor is on limits except the garage. The entire second floor is off limits to children . Off limits areas will be made inaccessible by use of gates, closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision. The home was observed to be orderly, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The home has a pool. The pool is fenced with a self closing gate that opens away from the pool. There are no firearms on the premises as stated by the licensee. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger to children are stored and inaccessible to children. Stairs are gated. LPA verified that the fire extinguisher 2A10BC is fully charged. The home has a gas fireplace. Fire place is not used during child care hours as stated by licensee. The home is equipped with both a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. There is a working telephone in the home. The home provides appropriate toys, learning materials and play equipment. Outdoor play area is fenced. The licensee is operating within the licensed capacity. LPA did not observe any child left without supervision during the inspection. Licensee is aware that her teenage assistant can not be left alone with children in care. Children files were reviewed. The licensee has current CPR and First Aid which expires 3/14/23. Mandated reporter training was completed 2/25/21. Licensee is in compliance with required immunizations for childcare providers. Fire and disaster drills are conducted at least once every six months. COVID-19 safety precautions were discussed with licensee. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee [or facility representative] and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. There are no deficiencies cited during today\342\200\231s inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
