Facility-requested visit·August 28, 2024

On August 28, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst, (LPA) M. Domantay met with Director, Katie Hamilton, for the purpose of an unannounced case management inspection for an application that was submitted for a change of capacity decrease. Facility is requesting to decrease preschool capacity from 82 to 64 children. Facility is removing a classroom from the preschool license. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The fire clearance was granted on 6/3/2024 by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department for 64 preschool children, ages 2 years to first grade entry. INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: There are 2 preschool areas designated for the preschool program: Classroom #1 and Classroom #3. No measurements were taken during today's inspection due to capacity change decrease . All measurements remain the same from previous inspections. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, and chairs. LPA observed cleaning disinfectants are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. LPA observed a functional combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector in the Director's office. Preschool children have 7 toilets and 8 sinks. LPA observed an manual sign-in/sign-out system. There is a separate private restroom for the staff located in the facility. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in Director's office and will use the staff restroom, if necessary. Page 1 OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: All outdoor activity space remains the same from previous pre-licensing inspections. The preschool outdoor play areas is fenced with a wooden fencing that is at least four feet tall. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys. There is a play structure present in the outdoor play yard area. There are shaded areas supplied by trees and wooden awning. The playground is free of debris and other hazards. There are no pools, hot tubs, or other bodies of water present. LPA discussed 100% supervision is always required in all areas that children have access to including the bathroom. Personal Rights, inspection authority, reporting requirements, maintaining buildings and grounds was reviewed. Staff Qualifications, Staff to Children\342\200\231s ratios and Capacity was explained to ensure compliance. LPA discussed with Applicant any changes that may occur regarding the director or an employee acting in the director\342\200\231s absence must be reported to the department within 10 working days. Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platforms.
