What the inspector wrote

On 08/23/22, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Domantay and Melissa Guirit arrived at the facility for an unannounced case management inspection for a change of capacity. LPAs met with Director, Sumaira Rizvi. Present for today's inspection were 60 children and 11 staff. The normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:00am-6:00pm. LPAs conducted a full tour of the facility to conduct a health and safety inspection with Director. All measurements remain the same from previous licensing inspection. Fire clearance was received for 87 preschoolers with toddler option of 12 toddlers, total capacity 99 children from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department on 07/14/2022. LPAs observed that the classrooms has sufficient lighting and appears to be clean and in good condition. There are sufficient amount of sinks and toilets for children to utilize. There is a designated staff bathroom. LPAs observed an ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, furniture, and are equipped with varied age appropriate materials and equipment. LPAs observed the preschool outdoor play yard areas, they are fully fenced and have ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, and furniture. There is sufficient cushion to absorb a child's fall under the play structures and play areas. LPAs observed ample amount of shade for children. The building has a fully charged fire extinguisher and first aid supplies. There is a working telephone at the center. LPAs did not observe any hazardous items that would be accessible to children. See 809-C for continuance. A license for a capacity of 87 preschoolers with a toddler option of (12) toddlers, total capacity 99 children will be made part of the license, effective today 08/23/22, and can be used when the facility is ready. There are no deficiencies being cited today. A Notice of Site inspection was provided to Director Samaira and an exit interview was conducted.
