Facility-requested visit·June 22, 2023

On 06/22/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Guirit arrived at the facility for an announced case management inspection for a change of capacity. LPA met with Director, Rachel Hendrix and co-owner, Zhen Zhen Li. Present for today's inspection were 39 children and 7 staff. The normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm. LPA conducted a tour of all the classrooms to conduct a health and safety inspection. Two classrooms will be taken away from the preschool license, which will result in a decrease in the preschool capacity. The outdoor measurements remain the same as previous reports. The measurements are as follows: INDOORS: 2,144.59 sq ft = 61 children A fire clearance was received from the El Cerrito Fire Department for 59 preschoolers two years to first grade entry on 5/16/2023. LPA observed that the classrooms has sufficient lighting and appears to be clean and in good condition. LPA observed an ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, furniture, and are equipped with varied age appropriate materials and equipment. There are 9 toilets and 8 sinks available for children use. The outdoor play areas are fully fenced and have ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, and furniture. There is sufficient cushion to absorb a child's fall under the play areas. LPA observed ample amount of shade for children. The building has fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers and first aid supplies. There is a working telephone at the center. LPA did not observe any hazardous items that would be accessible to children. The outdoor area will need a waiver to ensure that no more than 44 children are out at any given time. A license for a capacity of 59 preschoolers is effective today, 06/22/23. There are no deficiencies being cited today. A Notice of Site inspection was provided to Director, Rachel Hendrix and an exit interview was conducted.
