What the inspector wrote

On 08/11/2023 at 8:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Christina Watts conducted a Case Management Inspection at Kensington L'Academy Language Immersion Preschool. Licensee met with Area Manager (AM), Selene Li to explain the purpose of this visit. During today's inspection, there were 27 children in care with 7 staff in three classroom. (2 Fully Qualified Staff, 2 Teachers and 2 Aide) AM stated there are 41 preschool aged children enrolled. All staff present have Criminal Record Clearance. During today's inspection, LPA observed aide with 6 unit and not currently enrolled supervising and caring 9 children alone. LPA observed the Fully Qualified Teacher for room enter the facility after it was observed that aide was supervising and caring for 9 children alone. This is a violation of California Code of Regulations, Title 22. LPA Christina Watts informed Selene Li that this report dated 08/11/2023 documents a Type B citation. Type B citation(s) are a potential risk(s) to the health, safety, or personal rights of children in care. LPA Christina Watts assessed a civil penalty of $250 for a repeat violation within a 12 month period. *SEE LIC 809-D FOR DEFICIENCIES* Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Area Manager, Selene Li. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 consecutive days.
